Spacesig is the Space Special Interest Group (sig) of British MENSA, a collection of people who have two things in common, they are all members of MENSA and they are all interested in space and space related topics.
MENSA is the international society for people with high intelligence. It is in part a social society which allows members to get together in a variety of ways to swap ideas and interests. More information can be found here.
A special interest group, or sig, is exactly as the name suggests, a group of people all sharing a particular interest, in this case space, who get together to discuss and share ideas on the topic. In the case of Spacesig, the main forum of discussion is Spacesignl.
Spacesignl is the bi-monthly magazine of the sig, edited by Colin Wagstaff with help from the editorial team listed here. All members of the sig, indeed anyone interested, whether MENSA members or not, are free to contribute to the discussions in the magazine. Although the costs of publishing and distributing the magazine are met by MENSA, the time and talents used to produce it are given voluntarily. Some recent articles from the magazine can be found here
Anything and everything ...as long as it is in some way related to space. Space travel, life on other worlds, astronomical topics, cosmology and physics are just some of the topics regularly discussed.
